I’m currently mulling the thought of getting a new car. It’s more like 50/50. The thought is in my head with no prudent action but I am looking in the future and making sure my vehicle choice will be sustainable (I’m a high-mile, long-term owner)
Current car is 2015 Durango Blacktop AWD. I adore it and it’s so comfortable. I bought it with 45,000, it’s closing onto 77,000 miles and it has just been a year. I’m a single guy who does carpentry for fun, travel, and...drive 600 miles a week and I’m an essential government (state, not Federal) so weather be damned, I have to be there.
I have started to notice the Regal Sportback because it’s a thing rarely seen and it has a lot of nifty features such as the SPORTBACK BRO! The rebates on these things are getting juicy. I could get into a brand new one for about 20-23k.
BUT...I’m also terrified of getting that “replaced my car” regret where you regretted getting rid of your car for the next car. The last two times were out of my control (aka two people totaled my two Saabs).
TL;DR I’m thinking about the Regal but I don’t know if I want to get rid of my Durango. Halp?

Are there other factors not listed? Like has the Dodge started giving you problems pushing you towards something new or just a change of pace being the reason for something new?

Uh... what year Durango and what engine?
I mean, chances are the answer here is “do it before they charge you to take it off your hands” but could go the other way! Maybe.

Oh hell no bro. I don’t get the fascination with the Regal. It’s interior is bland and not luxurious, it drives okay but isn’t really anything special. It doesn’t stand out to me besides having decent rebates.
I’d have a new Accord over it any day. Keep your Durango, it looks great and that Hemi sounds good.

If you’re doing FWD sedan/ hatchback there are more options out there from the Japan and Korea , unless you can stretch your budget a bit and get a Regal T ourX. You could try looking at a used 2.0T Kia Stinger. You could get a previous gen V6 Accord.

The large trunk opening is great and I don’t get why more people want them o n their cars.

I really don’t like 99% of american cars. They just never seem to hold up when compared with most of the international offerings. So I find myself in a odd spot as of late. I am completely smitten with Buick right now. the whole range (sans SUV) is ticking all of the want boxes. I never thought I would say it, but they are knocking it out of the park. And the wagon? literally all of my wants. So good looking, great interior. It might be an ominous sign though. Last time I got revved up about american cars was the last years of Pontiac. The GTO, G8 and Solstice made me weak in the knees (still do). But as these things go, just as Pontiac starts pulling their shit together, GM pulls the plug, Pontiac goes tits up. Lets hope the new language of Buick sticks around a bit longer.

Hey, if you have any difficulties/long- delays with your repair shop acquiring repair parts for the TourX post deer-crash let me know and I’ll do my best to have some GM reps reach out t o hopefully assist . Especially if its a repair shop that’s run by a dealer franchise. Hope the car was treating you well otherwise! I d idn’t put this on the main thread because this doesn’t need the attention.

That would be awesome if you could do that. If you prefer to correspond via email, it's my license plate with @gmail.com at the end. I'm planning on taking it to the dealership for body work so I can get OEM replacements. Opie has been a stellar car so far, love it.
